The Omega 76 is a space station expecting two new visitors. First up is a new co-captain (Liv Tyler) who immediately sets the current captain (Patrick Wilson) on edge and disrupts the crew’s flow, but she’s still far less threatening than the second visitor. Because it’s an asteroid! Or meteor. Details aren’t important, but what is important is how the crew reacts to the impending danger coinciding with a bevy of personal dramas among them.
Actor Jack Plotnick directs this surprisingly dark space-set comedy and delivers a lot of laughs along the way. The gags are both visual — this is sci-fi as envisioned in the ’70s meaning the tech is old fashioned and quaint — and dialogue/delivery-based as the script serves up plenty of great lines and humorous conflicts. It’s a goofy romp in many ways, but there’s a definite darkness beneath it all that comes creeping out over the course of the film. It’s definitely not for all tastes, but folks who like their comedies with a dash of edginess and a dollop of WTF will find much to love here.

Matt Bomer Finds The Nice Guys
Magic Mike man is playing a not-so-nice guy
More often found playing a charming con man that helps the FBI out on US telly drama White Collar, Matt Bomer is using the end of the series to drum up more film work. He’s now locked down a nastier criminal role opposite Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in Shane Black’s The Nice Guys.
Exactly how Bomer’s character will fit into the plot remains to be seen, but we do know some of the details of the new film. Black co-wrote the script with Anthony Bagarozzi, and the story is set in the 1970s. Gosling will be wayward, troubled private eye Holland March, who crosses paths with hired muscle Jackson Healy (Crowe). These unlikely allies must prowl the mean streets of Los Angeles to solve the case of a missing girl, which soon develops links to the death of a porn star. As they unravel the cases, they discover a massive conspiracy with tentacles in the highest levels of power.
Margaret Qualley, who was recently seen in HBO drama The Leftovers, is the daughter of a corrupt chief justice, and who just so happens to be the spitting image of a porn star named Misty Mountains. Black is aiming at a June 17, 2016 release in the UK.
Bomer, who is about to start work on Magic Mike sequel Magic Mike XXL, is also attached to play Montgomery Clift in Monty Clift and has been lending his voice to DreamWorks’ ghost ‘toon B.O.O.: Bureau Of Otherworldly Operations.
Matt Bomer arrives Magic Mike XXL set [x]
EXCLUSIVE: Matt Bomer has been set to star opposite Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in Nice Guys, the action drama that Iron Man 3‘s Shane Black wrote and is directing with Joel Silver producing at Warner Bros. I would say that Bomer plays the heavy, but he’ll be carrying little if any body fat as he comes right from Savannah after he wraps the Steven Soderbergh-directed sequel Magic Mike XXL. I can still remember when Bomer, a complete unknown, was verging on being The Guy when Brett Ratner tapped him to be Superman in the trilogy of films that got grounded. It has taken some time, but Bomer is getting his movie chance now. As his USA show White Collar ends this fall after its six season run, Bomer is now focused on big screen opportunities. That effort was helped by the chops he displayed in a heartbreaking turn as Felix Turner in HBO’s The Normal Heart, which got Bomer an Emmy nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category. Bomer is also attached to play actor Montgomer Clift in the biopic Monty Clift. He’s repped by CAA, Anonymous Content’s Tony Lipp and lawyered by Steve Warren.
Black’s Nice Guys takes place in 1970s Los Angeles, and Gosling plays a detective hired by a gangster (Crowe) to find a missing girl, and in the process uncovers a dangerous conspiracy and that is where Bomer’s character comes in. The studio also set Margaret Qually, star of HBO’s The Leftovers, to play the lead female role, the daughter of a corrupt chief justice who figures in the scandal. [deadline.com]

Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, “Magic Mike XXL” finds THE REMAINING Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner MAGIC MIKE sharing the spotlight with them. ON THE ROAD to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and SAVANNAH to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off THE PAST in surprising ways.
In making the announcement, Silverman said, “’Magic Mike’ was a tremendous crowd-pleaser, scoring with critics and audiences across the board. We look forward to continuing the magic with so many of the talented individuals who made that film such a success-both in front of and behind the camera-and welcome these wonderful additions to the cast.”
Stated Kroll, “’Magic Mike’ delighted audiences everywhere with a fun and fascinating glimpse into a world few people ever see, becoming both a critical and commercial triumph. We’re thrilled to bring these memorable characters back to the big screen, along with some exciting new ones, in a story that will take them even further.” [x]

Matt Bomer (Neal Caffrey) reciting She Walks in Beauty by Lord Byron.
SHE walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies,
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meets in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellow’d to that tender light
Which Heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impair’d the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress
Or softly lightens o’er her face
